The Walleyes in Moses Lake are starting to come alive. We weren't
able to get on the water until 1:00 on Saturday, but the bite started out fine. We fished areas on the Northern arm of the lake with bottom bouncers and crawler harnesses. The early fish hit really light and needed to be fed line in order to ingest the lure. Falling back on the rod at the slightest hint of nibble gave the 'eyes time to suck down the nightcrawler. We caught
fish in 14 to 7 foot of water with most of them in 9 feet. It didn't seem to matter what color as we caught fish on gold blades, silver blades, and chartreuse blades. Bead colors on the bodies included blue, dark red, chartreuse, and flo red. We fished in many areas because the active, feeding fish were in small groups. On Saturday the weather was windy, cloudy, and cool. Sunday was warm, sunny, and gorgeous. Saturday we caught 24 Walleyes,
eight of which were keepers from 1:00 to 7:00. Sunday was a tougher bite despite the great weather!
We only caught 16 walleyes five of which were keepers. All the keepers were between 18" and 20." We saw nor heard of anything bigger than 23" caught.
