Winds were too bad for saltwater this weekend, so I took a short trip to Lake Stevens to check up on the kokanee. When I got there about 7:30, there was only one other trailer in the parking lot. It was fairly windy and squalls were moving through every hour or so.

I had to troll with the wind or slightly quartering with it. Going in
to the wind didn't work because the wind grabs my boat and spins it around.

I ran my normal wedding ring behind a 4/0 dodger on the downrigger.
Fished from 8 (that's right!) to 35 feet deep out in middle and east
side where it's real deep. The WDFW must have planted some trout in the lake, as I was catching 6 to 7 inch trout up to 9 inchers every fifteen minutes or so. I'm not sure how effective I was for kokanee because of the trout. I ended up getting one superb hit and fight with what turned out to be a 14 inch kokanee, which I netted and took home. Let the trout go to get bigger. I think it might be a bit early still for the kokes.

I saw some big arches on the scope down around 48 to 60 feet, but
figured they were trout and didn't go down after them.
