I arrived at lake Ki at 1:30pm for the opener in an attempt to miss
the zoo at the launching area. Lots of boats. I used power bait at the north east corner where the majority of people were fishing, & limited in about two hours. Of the five one was 17 inches and near two pounds. The following morning 5-1-00, I arrived at 6:00am. Went to the same spot and limited again by 9:00am. I missed several strikes as the fish were mouthing the bait making it a challenge to hook them. Monday 5-2-00 I went for a third day of fishing and had a friend with me. We buzzed around the lake using flat fish and other lures and had ho luck so we went back to the same spot I had fished the previous two days. I limited with power bait and my partner caught one. Again one of the five I caught was 17 inches and near two pounds. We left Ki and went to Heart and Erie lakes in Skagit Co where we did very well. Lake Ki fish fought well and they tasted great as I baked some of them and smoked the rest.
