What an awesome lake - great weather, great people, and, most of the time, great fishing. Using my wife's hand tied steamer flies was successful in limiting out (first time in 10 years) on some nice 17-22" rainbows trolled with leaded line (three colors) and using a dark olive fly with black. Oh, BTW, it was my wife, Pamela who limited out just in case I gave the impression it was me - sorry, only got one that day but it was a beaut - about 3 lbs. Hooked one that looked like the monster trout of the lake which has been named "Walter" for it is the biggest trout I have ever seen. It appears to be at least 10 lbs and is infamous for breaking lines and hearts when hooked and then wins the battle.
Next year will use more of Pamela's hand tied flies with some flash added and will use every color in the rainbow till that magic one appears and are able to hook some of those monsters that I know live there.
Our trolling success was of course in front of the state park - see you next year and yes, if you would like to try one of Pamela's flies just look for an excited redhead out on the lake reeling in trout - it will be her - be glad to share one with you - happy fishing
