My friend Peter and I fished Offut lake on both Saturday 5/27/00
and Sunday 5/28/00. I read in the Tribune that the fish were jumping onto stringers. Saturday we fished off of the resort dock and only caught a couple of fish in a 4 hours. The wind and rain had an impact on the bite. Sunday we launched my boat at the public access. Fish started hitting our wedding ring set ups just as soon as we left the access. We found out through several losses that these fish like to jump and twist when hooked. The bite was fast and furious for the first hour which gave us a false impression of a short day. The wind and rain picked up just like Saturday which slowed the bite down around 1pm. We both ended up limiting with Pete hanging his fifth flag about and hour before
I finished up. The best bite was adjacent to the ramp. We caught all rainbows in the 9-14" range.
