Started the day with high hopes using my wife's new steamer flies - boy it was nice - had two hits right near the cut to the state park but lost them. My wife was using one of her hand tied flies that was all black like a wooley bugger at about 3 colors and started getting hits. She limited out (again) with the largest being over 3 lbs and only 19" but shaped like a football. Next day the same thing happened but she had switched to a white fly with green hackle - again she had two great strikes with one being a nice fat 17" and two 15" - me, using my super fly (a black with flash) I finally got my 3 lb at about 18" - fat, not long and that was it. Seems like they hit for awhile and then stop. What was interesting is that there was no 'little trout' say, about 11 - 14" like there usually is. Very long intervals before hits but boy when they do hit they slam them...makes for great excitement.
I am one lucky husband who has a wife who ties the greatest flies. If you ever need help and see this attractive red head on the lake with a cranky husband just come on over - we will give you one to try. Stay at about 2 - 3 colors seemed best.
Tight lines to you.
