Frenchman's Hill Lake is a wide part of Frenchman's Wasteway, which flows into Potholes Reservoir. There are, in fact, numerous lakes and potholes that are part of the wasteway or just off of it along it's length from the Reservoir to Adams Road.
I was scouting some of them for today in anticipation of the upcoming waterfowl season and brought along my fishing rod. On the first stop, a four acre pond connected to the Wasteway, I saw only carp in the very shallow water.
The second "pothole" was actually a 20 to 30 acre lake that ran to about 10 feet deep. Trolling a small Rattletrap I caught one 12 inch, healthy looking largemouth bass and lost another of similar size. The lake also had tons of carp, but unfortunately I had no worms or corn ):
All in all, a pleasant day, The weather was mild, as were the breezes. These lakes might be worth a stop for the cast and blast angler/hunter come October!
