I hit the launch at Coulee Playland about 0600 by myself. I started
fishing for walleye right away. I was using a red wedding ring
with a yellow blade and a worm chaser. I did not catch any thing
until I got to the far side of the lake where all the walleye hide
out. I was trolling along at a dead slow pace (speed 1 on the electric
motor) 30 feet out in 60 feet of water when my pole dove to the water
as if it had snagged. I reached for my rod and gave it a tug and the
rod tugged back. It was a walleye! I reeled it in and was surprised
by the girth of this fish. When I measured it it was 27 inches and
eight pounds. It was a tournament winning fish. I reset my gear and started fishing
again and the same thing happened about ten minutes later. I reeled
in a smaller fish this time this one was 22 inches. I kept both fish and
headed back to the launch all before 9 o'clock.

Another good day on Banks Lake.
