Living in Maple Valley sort of makes Wilderness my home town local lake. Had to work this weekend but managed to find a spare hour to head out Sat evening. I was very glad that I did. I launched my float tube about 7:15 and headed toward the community center cove. Had a few small ones on the way and as I made my turn back to the boat ramp, I hooked into a nice triploid. He was about 15-16" and striped line when he hit my nymph pattern. After playing catch up with my spooled out sinking line I was able to get him on my fly reel and began the battle. Was sort of a strange fight as he swam right to me, however just as I was about to net him he realized he was hook and made a quick bolt and quickly spit my hook as if he was playing me instead of the other way around. So much for be conservative and using barbless hooks! Oh well, I'll let him grow a bit more for the next outing. Total for this evening was landed 7 and lost 3. Not bad for an hours time. Good luck and tight lines.
