Fshed mud lake in weyerhauser property the Saturday of memorial day weekend. We packed the 12' aluminum boat down through the forest and back and it was more than we bargained for. As soon as we got out there I spied several largemouth bass checking out our boat, we were near the boggy area. They were very spooky and had lock jaw but they were numerous and huge! They were all at least 2lbs. They hung out underneath the bogs. This threw me because I never thought bass would be in this lake. Beautiful lake, the bogs are really cool. did not catch anything we used wet flies such as bitch creeks and stonefly types. A guy we talked to didn't catch any but said his friend had caught 2 5lb cutthroats out of here recently! Saw a bear on shore. My dad saw a different bear about a week ago up in the property so there is a pretty good population probably. This is the first year I have fished it since I was a little kid with my dad before they closed it, but I remember sitting on a bog in pouring down rain and the fish were jumping literally everywhere, I don't know what has happened but I don't think the fish reproduce in the lake since I didn't see a creek. But I cannot confirm this. The lake is beautiful.
