I was finally able to test out my new scale today. So far nothing this year has been worthy.

Today I fished the opposite side of the lake where there are no nets. Btw, as I was launching this morning, Muckleshoot was pulling up in their boat. He handed several large plastic bags full of fish to somebody in their truck for research or processing. Very sad sight. I was too far away to see what type were in the bags.

Anyways, action started pretty fast with the trusty jerkbait. Caught a nice smallie about 2# right off the bat. Banged out a few dinks and got smashed by this biggun' largie. Choked my jerkbait across its mouth. Love how my scale locks in the weight now and it's so easy to see in direct Sun. Consistency is an issue. It seems to have a little variation in the hundredths but for my purpose, that doesn't matter much. The tenth seems consistent.

Found two more 3+# largies with same pattern. I couldn't find the big smallies. Biggest smallis today was maybe 2 and a quarter.

Key today was fishing shallow. If you think you're shallow already and still not getting hits, go even shallower. It was annoying having to clean my hooks off after every cast but once I switched to the weedless jerkbait, made it easier to get through the weeds.

Also saw a bunch of juvenile and a few adult eagles. Photo seems to show they are pretty far away but they were within casting distance. They were swarming like crazy. Perfect day out on the water. Just a slight breeze to cause ripple on the water. Not too hot. Consistent action with some bangers.

Majority of bass caught on hard and soft jerkbait and a several on wacky worm.

I also saw the weirdest thing today. I saw something splashing in front of me but I couldn't tell what it was bc it looked so odd. As I got closer to investigate it looked like a fish was trying to eat a fish as big as itself! Closer examination, I see it's 2 catfish and 1 is biting into the bottom jaw of the other lol. I actually tried to scoop them into the net for a pic but when my net hit the water, the other fish let go and they swam deeper
