Well, this is more of a info report rather than my success. Launched the Tiny Tyee down at Dash Point( this is not a place that has boat launch access). Small boats and kayaks are not a problem. Want to get down early morning, but gate to park doesn't open till 9am I believe and closed at 10pm. Got down at around 11am(low tide). Lucky to get a spot in the front row of parking to pull my boat out of my truck. A few fly fishing guys were casting while I was setting up my boat with way too much gear I usually bring(definitely obsessed with gear overload)! One of the fly fishermen caught a small bright coho around 1 1/2lb to 2lb while I was setting up. It is a good thing WDFW allowed fishing around the pier that is "Closed".?? Good thing...I pulled my boat down a good 100 feet on the beach with no gear conflict issues. WDFW is on top of things(not really). ...Was set up with Cut Bait Heads(luhr jensen). Wanted to try them.Had cut herring filets on rock salt(I use to use fresh herring from Pt Defiance a long time ago). Good luck finding fresh bait unless you can jig them up. Does anyone know if they are still selling fresh herring at Pt. Defiance? Too much of time and money to buy fresh bait....Well,anyway...Started trolling with the cut bait heads/herring filet. I was between Dash Pt. and Browns Pt. Marking fish in the area, but they get weird and off the bite during the day and bright sun. This is why fresh bait has an advantage. My buddy was out early(5-6am) at Redondo. No fair, because he has a 22ft North River/200HP. He was out with a couple buddies and were finished by 8am with coho limits and a pink. Bite shut down after that.... Fishing spoons,AceHigh Fly and pink/white hoochie. 300-400 ft of water 37 ft down. One guy in the middle troll with small Deep Six. He said bite went dead after 8-9am. Back to my fishing efforts....Cut Bait Head looked great in the water, but fish were funky and not biting. I like trolling in 50-60 ft down 30-40 ft on the downrigger on the beach line. No takers. Cuaght a nice plump female flounder with eggs in her. Was hauling butt for coho and that flounder grabbed my bait head. Kept that fat flounder. Guess I need to rename the "Tiny Tyee" this week to the "Tomato Flounder Pounder"!(heirloom tomatoes and flounder pic). Tomatoes go great with fish/seafood. Saw a eagle on the shoreline with a pink salmon a good 3 lbs,but couldn't fly away with it.Bird was trying, but had its fill and took off when I tried to take a picture.....Back to fishing. Tried a few different setups, but the fish these days just won't bite. Seen several $50,000-$100,000 boats moving around like me,but no nets out scooping salmon. I went off Dash Pt. in 200-300 ft of water and caught several shakers.Switched to a Gibbs small Bon Chovie spoon.72ft on the downrigger. This was a bit of my problem. Spent a good third of my time trolling a shaker or releasing one. Caught one Jack Chinook about 18-20 inches(sea lice and chubby). Of course can't keep em,but it's a Jack and headed to the river to not spawn successfully. Thought I would get a decent evening troll, but wind got worse as the sun set. Wanted to head over to Piner Pt.,
but needed another gallon of gas on board. Was dead calm on the other side. Pulled my boat out at dark and one helpful guy asked if I needed help loading my boat. Definitely helped me because I was beat and tired. Sun,wind and waves/current will take it out of person trolling 7-8 hours in a small boat. Good luck!!

Thanks for the report, I'm guessing that the pink salmon season is over now, well it was a good year! Hopefully we will have more like this in the future.

Glad to give a report...Don't know if I gave out any good fly fishing info. Up in area 9 for a few days right now at the family cabin on Mats Mats Bay( I'll post a report soon, not much action.Did miss a good fish trolling). Seen your post (reply)about the Skokomish River. Looks like it got taken down. Saw "Nook"had a post recently. Thanks for the shout out. Good luck!
