I got on the water a little before 7pm. Wind was off and on with gusts around 5mph. I started out on streamers but wasn’t having much luck. Eventually the wind died down and that’s when surface action really started to pick up so I swapped out to a stimmy. Got a decent rainbow on my second cast and the lake seemed to wake up. Every 2-3 seconds I would hear a rise. I only got a couple on the stimmy in the course of about 15 minutes so I decided to swap out for something a little smaller and went with a #14 elk hair caddis and was having a lot more luck. After about 5 bows ranging from 8-14 inches, I decided to give the fish a break for a bit and admired the eagles getting their fill, even saw a beaver on the north side of the lake who decided I was a little too close for comfort and smacked the water with his tail before diving. WDFW keeps this lake stocked pretty generously so you’re bound to get some action here as long as the wind is cooperating.
