I have been wanting to fish Cle Elum for years, so I drove out there early yesterday and got on the water about 7. Breeze and waves early then calm and sunny later, but fish weren't biting either way. I did have something big on my line that came off under the boat but it may have been a log, it didn't really move. Some trout were checking out my spoon at lunch when I was casting from the shore and letting it sink deep, but they weren't eager to bite. Also saw a few eating bugs, but overall there appear to be very few. I saw a bunch of minnows that were reddish. I am assuming they are shiners and if the trout are eating them that explains why they weren't hungry. Water was 72 degrees and visibility 30-40 feet. Maybe when the water cools down a bit they will be more eager to bite.
