I would actually give this a 3.5 but rounded up to a 4. The fishing was steady, but not hot. I started the day after kokanee with the usual wedding ring, shoepeg corn and flasher set up, but foolishly brought the wrong rod (not nearly flexible enough) and lost each of the several fish that hit within in a few seconds. Lesson learned for next time. Fortunately, the kokanee were still pretty high in the water column and a few deigned to strike flies also (I guess if a kokanee will hit a green wedding ring, why wouldn't it hit a green Krystal Flash bugger?). I also took several trout from over the weed beds, returning most but keeping a few for the table, including one tiger trout. The rest of the trout were rainbow. In addition, I landed a couple of smallmouth. The bass only ran to about 11 inches, but they fought larger than their size, as smallmouth seem to do. I think the cold spring held the fishing back somewhat, but it should really turn up when some warmer weather arrives. Also, for anyone who likes morel mushrooms, the burned over areas around the lake are full of them. My sister and I gathered a good batch, as did several other people we spoke to while staying at the resort on the lake.
