My son and I got to the lake at 8am. We quit at 11. The weather was cloudy and sometimes windy. The water temperature was 58.5 degrees.
The pool level was 1,199.67 feet and there were a few trees floating around to have to watch for. When we got there was only one vehicle parked in the lot and no boats at the marina. We both thought this was unusual since it was the start of the 3-day weekend for a lot of people.

As Bo, my son, was letting out his line to troll he had a bite but it didn’t stick. We used worm and corn for bait on our lures. We both had one line on the downrigger and one flatline. Bo got his first fish on the flatlined that tanged into mine. He got his fish in and then untangled my line to tell me I had a fish on. I got that one in. They were both cutthroats.
The flatlined rods got the most action while a few came in on the downriggers. Mine was weighed down with the dodger and the camera. The camera floats but it has a weight in it to counter balance it. Bo had either a 1/4oz or 1/2oz weight on. The downriggers were at times as far down as 20 feet, which did not produce. Most of the time they were at 10 and above.
The kokanee (adipose fin intact) came at 10 foot just when I changed out my orange lure and dodger to the pink. The most productive speed was 1.1 to 1.4mpg. When the wind came up it was hard to stay at one speed. We were .9 to 1.7mpg. I could see that in my video by the way the dodger acted.
A funny thing happened while we were out there. I was digging in my huge fishing back pack, with it on my lap, and I said to Bo “wouldn’t it be funny if I got a bite now?” Well, I got a bite on both rods! I reeled in the trout on the downrigger rod and Bo got the crappie on the flatlined one. It was a huge crappie!
We came home with 1 crappie, 1 kokanee, 3 cutthroats. Bo released a smaller cutt. He said to me I out caught him. Wow, it has been a while since that happened! He didn’t have to bait my hooks either.
