This is a 3-day report from 1/28-1/30. Day 1 we trolled around Spring Canyon from noon to 4 and caught 4 trout all around 18”. Saturday was real cold. We fished all day and even ran up to Keller as the fishing was very slow all day. We managed to catch a handful and missed a few more but most people we talked too had the same results. Sunday was a different story. We started at 7:30-noon at Spring Canyon and immediately were on fish. Caught quite a few and lost too many more. The Old Goat 2.13”, in what we call “Boat to the Belly special” (orange with pink tip), was on fire. We caught most on that and the orange OG1. We threw the kitchen sink at them with dodgers, lures, bait, and the Old Goats outperformed all others the whole trip. Largest trout caught was around 22” and we swear we had a nice Kokanee on but lost it. Kept a few for smoking and sharing with our families. Soon we will have our Boat to the Belly episode sharing this trip on YouTube. Work is delaying that creation as always. First trip of the year was a relaxing, huge success!

Three days in a row and one day is way better than the other two. Those scaly buggers are just weird. Glad you did good, thanks for the report.

Talking to a local guy he said Sunday should’ve been good because they most likely were going to let out water at the dam. Not sure if that was the case but the bite did turn on.

Yakhusker: Thanks for putting the OG1s to work and reporting the results! Appreciate it!

They’ve produced every time. Even when it was slow, the only hits were on the OG1’s. Put a perch color on to mix it up and had two hits within 30 minutes.

Glad to hear you stuck with it and found a pattern Yak. Congrats on a successful trip. You guys do a great job with your content. I am going to have to try that quiche recipe. Looks excellent! Tight lines...

Yak, one little addition you can make to your fly rigs that's worth a try is to put a small fluorescent bead or two ahead of the the fly to make it more pronounced. I like to add a color that's different from the main lure itself in case the fish are craving a different spectra for that day. And also gel scents adhere better to lures for longer lasting scent trails.

Will definitely try that. We are always looking for new ways to catch these critters for sure!! Thanks for the tip.
