Who said you couldn’t fish when the temperature was below freezing? We started at 16° temperatures. Layered up and ready to go. We had to soak our poles in the river just to cast to avoid freezing temperatures. But it was worth it. We found a spot along the river that held fish that were willing biters. Admittedly it was really cold. We ended up with eight fish that were between 15 and 20 inches.

Where on the Spokane were you? We have great success on all the avista properties for Long Lake: muley canyon, Amy Lane, south shore. Using #4 vibrax spinners. On a good day, every other cast is a fish.

Ifightnsrdz, I have used my extensive mountaineering experience to repel down into this accessible areas. The reason I didn’t pinpoint my location is that this is a dangerous area not only to get to but get out of. We had to use 200 feet of mountaineering rope to get in and it was made even more dangerous by the snow and ice covering the gully and the rocks. It is not safe to disclose.

Conradlam, based on your riverside fishing location, and extreme rock descent skills.......is the blood on the ground and on your pants yours.......or from the fish......or a little from both......:>)?

Motoboat, it’s probably from the fish, as I bleed any keepers right away. My brother did take two falls on the way in and one on the way out. The snow covering the rocks made it real difficult for foot placement.
