We started about 10am and quit around 12:30. I had an appointment to go to.
It was about 11:30 before Bo caught the first one. I caught 3 or 4 “sculpins” of which there are over 700 species. I did catch one that I have never caught before. A Buffalo Sculpin.
We spent time looking for them. Mostly in front of Owens Beach. This year is not like last year. The schools are not as large. They were mostly in 80-90 feet of water although we did go out to 120 feet and shallow as 60.
We ended with 13 squid. All were nice sized. I got 4 and Bo, of course, got 9. But he did not catch any fish or shells! This was his first trip out after surgery to take the rod out of his leg. He did well.
The weather was partly cloudy with a slight breeze which made it cold! High tide was at 5:18 AM 11.9 feet. Low tide at 10:18 AM 7.8 feet. High tide again at 2:50 PM 11.1 feet.
I saw a seal thrashing around a fish with the seagulls diving to get the scraps. No Picture. Then another pinniped surfaced really close to us. I said “Hi” and we thought it was going to come over since it was looking at us. But it swam away. Two eagles were flying around. More wildlife out than boats.
