Lots of water recreation today....counted over 20 boats, kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and only two fishing boats on Cascade Lake. It must be summer. The draw down is significant, too. 13 ribs showing on the launch ramp today. Had to offload and have the crew walk down the road to the rocks and get in the boat there rather than at the log by the launch ramp. Bottoming out already. Might be able to squeeze in just a couple more trips in the immediate future and then we'll be done. (Unless we return to putting on the waders and walking the boat in and out to the trailer.) Doesn't seem fair for the Resort to grab so much water so soon and we're not into July yet!

Almost too hot today for me. 75 degrees, water 69 and wind 5-12mph. Normally we squawk about the wind but we were grateful for it today.
Targeted bass and succeeded. No real big ones this week, but sure had a lot of fun with the dinks. For only a four hour trip we stayed busy -probably because all three of us hung up in rocks and trees seemingly nonstop, but we managed to retrieve all the errant lures and found someone else's bobber along the way. Gotta get the old line replaced however. We're pretty vigilant on putting on new line at the start of every season. Not this year and we paid for it with wasted time spent untangling and repairing broken, weak line. Just lucky the line didn't break when one of the better bass was on.

Enjoyed lunch in the shade and had a visit from a young mallard mom and her two chicks, our regular two kingfishers who entertain us with their dive bombing for fish and forgot to mention the big turtle we saw last week. Didn't see him this week though heard a big bullfrog. Oh yeah, and the topless swimmer was entertaining the men.

At the end of the day the body count was pretty darn good with 34 caught and released. P and I joked we caught the same bass back to back as I got the largest one first and then P threw into almost the same spot and got one identical. (Actually had that happen in MN years ago. I hooked a really big bass, lost him at the boat and my lure, and about a half hour later P. caught him with my lure still in his mouth.)
Today, P and K tied with 9 each and I came out ahead - winner winner chicken dinner with 16. For all of us, all largemouths and 2 redear.
