My buddy Jay and I launched out of Ft Spokane to do some walleye fishing on the Arm. We started at the mouth and worked our way upriver to buoy 1. We were concentrating on large flats. We were using both the current and the wind to push us downriver. We fished 7 different areas including Casino Flats, McCoy's, Lapham's and the area around buoy 1. No one area was all that great. We did a lot of casting with jigs, blade baits and spoons. 30-40 FOW seemed to be the best depth. A black jig head with a perch colored swimbait probably was the best but no one color/combination stood out. We caught a dozen or so eyes and kept 11 between 15 and 21 inches. . Jay also caught a nice smallie.
I launched out of Ft Spokane because the Porcupine Bay launch is all jacked up. They are doing some shoreline rehab about a half mile upriver from buoy 1. It looks like they are putting in a beach for someone actually. They are staging out of Porky and the right side of the launch is fenced off and the left side is full of sand so you can really only launch down the middle; definitely going to screw up launching and recovering as the weather warms up. Whatever they are doing will probably get ruined anyway by all of the wake board and ski boats that use the stretch they are working on.
