After watching the weather forecasts my brother and I decided to take advantage of the dry and calm day before the coming week of wet and windy weather. Launched at Ft Spokane about 10 am. Only five trailers in the parking lot but the bank was lined with shore fishermen. They did not appear to be having success. Trolled up river for a while. Caught one 16" within 5 minutes. Nothing after that for 30 minutes so headed along the south shore toward the confluence. Nothing there either. Moved to the main stream east shore north of the confluence. Caught one unclipped (released) and lost one. Caught one more about 1:30 . Moved north to split rock area. Finally found some in a bay north of split rock and it was fish on for the next hour and a half. Brought home a couple of nice limits of 16 to 18.5 inch fat triploids, mostly 17 +. Nothing worked at first. Everything worked after we finally found them. Orange or chartreuse flies tipped with worm caught most. About 2 mph. Tried faster and slower. Didn't seem to make a significant difference. Fish were shallow. 2 colors and up. Day was probably a 3 but I give it a 4 because its Roosevelt. Love it there in the winter. Quiet, beautiful, and empty of crowds.

You were out on Roosie and you got a couple of limits, 4 for sure. Haven't fished up that way much, may give it a try.

That can be a good area to fish and has been good to us over the years. Orange Kekedas have been hot for us late fall into December. A good day indeed. :-)
