Point Defiance 11-27-2020
Black Friday for my son and I was a trip to Point Defiance. But not the fishing pier. We brought the boat with us. This new launch was a first for us both..
I headed over toward the boathouse skirting the ferry. We tried to dial in the fish finder. I really don’t know what I am doing with it but I knew there was a freshwater/saltwater feature. Then I did some other stuff to it. I just hope I can get it back when on freshwater.
At the beginning we moved a few different places then went back to the very first stop and stayed there for about 2.5 hours. It was in 78-83 feet of water, using my electric motor as an anchor (spot lock). There were only a few boats at first. Then as my son caught more and more squid more boats came around. A few came drifting by within 3-5 feet from us.
I cleaned up some of the bottom. Lines and I hooked a rat fish that had been out there swimming with a hook and bottom rig weight. I caught an octopus. I caught the first squid I had one or two doubles. But the star was my son. He had several doubles and one triple. While I always count my success by the individual squid (25 this time). My son caught 7 pounds.
It was a very nice day. The water was flat except from boats going by. The sun was out. We were there 12-3:15. He kept saying one more cast.
Low tide 8:59 AM 5.8 feet High 2:32 PM 11.5 feet.
