Ah, the weekend! It means just one thing, fishing (well, after spending Saturday getting my chores done, lol). I met up with friends Robbie and Mark and we launched out of Edmonds, gear in the water by 7:20am. Conditions were pretty decent – calm winds, some fog (and smoke) in the air, and not a ton of boats out. The fog and being on the water really helped with the smoke, making it much easier to breath than being on shore. It’s a mystery to me why the mayor of Seattle closed the boat launches. She obviously knows nothing about marine air…

Anyway, the rods, two riggers and a Deep Six off the back end. Flashers/hoochies/herring strips, and a rotator/old goat 2.8” in green/chartreuse. Within minutes the Old Goat on the Deep Six goes off and Robbie grabs the rod. As he’s playing his fish the port downrigger goes off and Mark starts playing his fish, but it comes off. Setting the rod aside, mark nets Robbie’s fish and just like that we are on the board. A nice start to the day and it’s not even tide change…

After that – crickets. Lot’s of shakers, no big guys. We pull the gear at 1130 and run down to Meadow Point and fish it to West Point. Lot’s of fish lighting up the fish finder but nothing that wanted to play.

It’s been that kind of coho season for me, I just can’t seem to get into a catching groove. Oh well, there’s a few more weeks left and I’ll keep at it!

Thanks Mike, hoping to win the contest to fish with ya. U mention rotator/OG off Deep six. Gonna try the OG sometime off diver or on a flasher. Not sure what u meant by rotator? I use those lures from shore. Are speaking of the same rotator or a type of flasher?

What I call rotators are the diamond shaped attractors that are in line and spin around vrs. a flasher which makes a big looping action.

Gotcha, what I kinda thought. The Columbia river flasher. U think the OG better behind or because on the Deep Six?

The mayor of Seattle knows nothing about most things.
