we headed out from Edmonds around 3:30 pm and started trolling south just in front of the oil docks. I tried out a Ace High Fly and a herring, but only caught one shaker on the Fly. I switched the herring to a Gibbs Skinny G in the herring aid color, but didn't have any luck. once we got past Richmond beach and fairly close to Shilshole I switched the Skinny G to a green hoochie and the Fly to a herring aid Coho Killer. with no luck with those lures and only about 15 min left before we had to head in I put a 3 inch irish cream spoon, and a cookies and cream Skinny G on. when it was time to go I pooped both the clips and let the gear rise through the surface. within 15 seconds the irish cream spoon was hooked up! we landed the fish and it was an early 6 pound ocean run coho.
I'm guessing that the fish bit at around 60 to 65 feet down.
we trolled from 120 feet down all the way to 50 feet.
All bait that we used was tipped with herring.
