Launched from Mossyrock day-use park and trolled toward the dam using UV sling blade and green wedding ring with worm, 35 and 45 feet on the cable. We quickly hooked a small coho that we attempted to release, but it got snatched by a seagull. Caught three small 9 or 10 inch rainbows in the next few minutes, all released fine but we didn’t want to waste our limits on released fish, so we switch to green hoochies with smile blades, no bait. Couldn’t stay out of the small fish. Ran toward Taidnapam and the fish were in the 10-12 inch range, but still not what we were looking for. After killing another fish, we called it a day. Maybe in a couple years these will be decent sized.

I'm pretty sure what you were thinking was a coho was actually a 7-8 inch chinook. They have a touch of a black gum line, fairly large spots all along their body and spots on both the top and bottom lobes of the tail fin that has a large v in it.. We've made 3 trips up their in July and haven't been able to catch a coho. They've all been small chinook. We have gotten a few larger chinook too that were in the 15-16 inch size plus a zillion 10+ inch trip. rainbows that are mostly covered with parasites.

If you want coho or kings you need to fish deeper to get below the trout...right now the salmon are deep between 75 and 100 ft down

I should have took a picture. That little guy had a green back, small spots, forked tail, and a white mouth. Who knows, but I felt bad he became seagull chow.

I did notice the parasites too. I’ll make sure to try deeper next time.

Going deeper is definitely the key. But if you’re looking for great camping breakfast keep the smalls

One thing about the trout, they were NOT picky. Pink, green, silver, whatever. It was like Wicked Tuna. See a mark on the graph, rods start bouncing.

We have tried 70 feet to 150 feet deep all over the lake with down riggers, but no cohos. Every thing that we caught that has had a definite v in its tail, was real silvery, also had spots on both lobes of the tail fin, larger spots all along the back, and a blackish gum line. That says chinook to me.

earlier in the year 405,000 triploids were released and growing fast...exactly 80ft off landers we are getting cohos to 22 inches...pink hoochy
