The weekend is here and my wife JoAnn said "let's go fishing ".sounds good to me!
Cliff notes:
We launched at 715am at the Edmonds sling and trolled the first 2 hours at the oil docks. Fish on the fish finder but no action and no nets out that we saw. High tide was at 9:50am, decided to troll across to fish south of Apple Cove Point.
Arriving on station at slack tide, lots of marks but no action, until 1025am when the bite magically turned on!
Started off with a double, 55 and 65 feet on the cable. Netted both fish at once which was interesting. Fish number 3 came 10 minutes later at 55 feet, and 30 minutes later number 4 at 55 feet.
It goes to show, salmon fishing can seem to be dead and then it's lights out when the bite comes. All our fish were healthy 3 pounders. I had one this week, they are good!
Trolling speed was 3.3 to 3.9mph. Rigs shown, fished with herring strips.
BTW, I upgraded all my reels to the Okuma cold water line counter reels. Very happy with them, they make for great downrigger reels.
Good times for resident coho!
