Hit Lake WA bright and early to try for some cuts and kokanee. Started trolling at Champaign pt. and headed east across Juanita bay. Found a couple of Kokes at the SE side of Juanita bay in 80' of water with 50' on the wire. Got them on moon jelly sling blade and tequila sunrise wiggle hootchie tipped with tuna/krill cured corn.

Put in about an hour of time targeting cuts with dodger & spoons as well as squid with a nightcrawler. No luck on the cuts. There was a ton of bait in the area this morning and it looked promising, but maybe all the cuts had full bellies ;)

Any size to the kokanee?

They were about 12". Not too bad, but nothing to brag about. I need to put in some time on Lake WA and get it dialed. I'm sure there are a lot nicer fish out there.

Thanks Snowdog. I am a faculty member at UW Bothell doing research on Lake Washington kokanee, and I would love to get kokanee samples from you or any other Lake Washington anglers catching kokanee. If you still have the heads, or catch LW kokanee in the future and can save the heads for me, I'd really appreciate it! Frozen is fine. If you could tell me the length of the fish that the heads came from, even better. I can meet you somewhere to pick them up. I can be reached at UWBkokanee@gmail.com

I caught a couple this morning and will save the heads for you. One interesting thing I've noticed is the fish have what look like sea lice in the gills and a few on the body. I'll send you an email to coordinate getting you the samples.
