Fished 11-2pm the North end of Lake Sammamish 2/9. The lake is insanely high and full of all kinds of junk. The biggest catch of the day ended up being a massive plastic planter that, with a precarious hoist, I liberated from the center of the lake.

It was extremely foggy at first but this slowly burned off by the afternoon. There was just a ton of debris in the water of all sorts. The water was really murky maybe five feet of visibility by my estimation. I headed south in the middle of the lake. Started out with a trusty red and green wedding ring and sling blade dodger set 20 feet on the downrigger. Around 30 minutes later I caught a 13" cutthroat. Then absolutely nothing for over an hour. I saw three or four boats in the vicinity but never saw a net go down while I was out.

I kept looking around for water without much debris in it but it only got worse the further south I went. Around 1pm I decided to go back to where I got the first fish and decided to make a tackle change. I switched to a "Kokanee rigged" God's tooth spoon in 50/50 flavor about a foot behind the dodger. Apparently this combo, with a single gulp maggot on the front hook works really well! Within 5 minutes I get a bite, similar size cutthroat. As soon as I send it down again to 20 feet, another bite. Again and again I got bit until I caught and released my limit, with two fish kept, in a matter of minutes! Nothing huge, biggest fish topped out at 16". Regardless, good action by my standards.

I started out putting worm on the God's tooth but I found it it hampers the action. Using one gulp maggot adds scent and allows the lure to move properly. A very effective lure indeed, I would highly recommend getting a few!

20ft, 1.6-1.7mph 4" sling blade - approx 14" leader - 50/50 God's tooth Kokanee rigged w/ Gulp white maggot x 1

On the way in I saw all the flooded property on the Lakeshore. I saw a bench partially underwater and couldn't resist a photo. It ended up being the only photo of the day

Great you found the trick! A friend and I fished mid-day Sunday down by the weather station. I missed a hit and caught one in three hours. That was also about 20'-25' down. Nice to hear things might improve farther north. Think it'll be a few weeks before the lake gets back to "normal". Love the pic....surreal out there with all the debris, deck furniture, and muddy water.
