2/9/2020 12:19:45 PMSince they don’t seem to be clipping any species but triploids, I better get my fish identification skills up graded. Not much difference In a wild rainbow versus an unclipped steel head but the configuration of the tail, right?

2/9/2020 9:20:05 PMThey should be fin clipped just like the triploids and want to say they will be a hybrid rainbow/steelhead (what I was told last year).

2/10/2020 6:18:53 AMI thought steelhead and rainbows were genetically the same fish. I was reading a hatchery report (for lyons ferry I think) and it said the 10-20% of steelhead that didn't migrate just became resident trout and were genetically the same as the rest of the rainbows, and that some resident rainbow fry will go to sea. I read somewhere they are seeing this naturally play out in the at the Ho river now. Practically for us I think it's just 20" for the rule book.

2/10/2020 7:39:26 AMNeed to correct my previous comment, it was the Kamloops I heard was to be a hybrid, not steelhead. That said the hatchery fish should be clipped, otherwise, how else would you be able to ID a native rainbow from a steelhead?
