Headed out to Amber at 3:00 Sunday despite the wind and rain and
was really glad I did. Amber is fishing fantastic this year. The average
fish is about 14 to 15 inches and there are lots of them. There have been
some reports that the fish are a little scrawny due to over stocking the
previous years but all the fish I have caught are quite healthy and fat.
The triploid bows are showing up in good numbers which is encouraging. I
was beginning to think that they had been severely reduced while fishing
there in the Fall and not catching a single one. 50% of my catch Sunday had
the fin clipped.
The fish are fighting really hard this year spend much of their time jumping
out of the water. Make sure to tie up several green and black wooly buggers
as this is the hot fly at the moment.
