Known for it's abundance of willing trout and the destination of many novice flyfishers, Amber has proven to be, without doubt, one of the most productive water sheds in eastern Washington. On any given outing, whether your just beginning or an accomplished flyfisher, expect it to be worth your while. Because Amber is a selective gear fishery with a catch limit of two and restrictions on managed fish, it allows fish to remain in the system and grow to enormous proportions. Recently I landed a rainbow of unimpressive length but it weighed in at around 2 pounds. It's my conclusion that if more lakes were like Amber we would all be able to experience the thrill of catching and releasing a plethora of healthy and overgrown trout on a regular basis. By releasing more than you kill, this can be achieved. I've encountered only responsible and concerned sportsmen at Amber, willing to do their part to preserve a fine ecosystem. Remember to catch and release.
