Caught some nice sized rainbows and browns today. Largest was a 21" rainbow and a couple of good sized browns that I released. Kept changing up baits and trolling or casting, so it was kind of grinding it out, catch a few, then back to the drawing board. For trolling hooked or landed some on a rapala taildancer and xrap both in rainbow trout pattern. There were periods of absolutely nothing on the troll. Casting, seemed to get occasional light and hard strikes with rapalas, spoons, and plastics in 20-30 fow. Eventually got all of the largest ones in a one hour time period on an olive plastic leech on 1/4 ounce jighead. Setting the hook on any light tap right on the bottom was the ticket a lot of the time. Water temp was 46, water clarity was good. After a good breeze in the morning, the wind kind of died out for the rest of the day.

Yeah I know, I wouldn't have thought to use the small leech but it had worked a couple times before. They were just nipping at everything else so I figured I needed to downsize. Weather was too nice, making them skittish I think.

Off the bank, a green garlic marshmallow with a mealworms floated up 18 to 20 inches and a sliding weight was the ticket. Used to catch fish all day long from the launch. September through october casting yozuri crystal minnows or rapalas off the bridge did well on the spawners. Twitch twitch pause and bang!

I don't know that many people know about the spawners. I saw a couple of rollers around the launch. I talked to a guy who was shore fishing who had been getting some success. Definitely one of my favorite things is the same thing: twitching minnow type plugs. I like lucky craft slender pointers. They haven't seemed as motivated to hit the suspending jerkbaits last week or last fall, compared to previous years, not sure if there are fewer fish or something else.
