Went out this morning and fished the mouth by the bridge on portal way. Hooked a few and lost some, but got to keep a nice 5 pounder. Pretty good day!

Beautiful fish! Nice to see a report up north. I've heard of folks having some luck out on Semiahmoo on the Drayton Harbor side. Any insight you'd be willing to share on shore fishing (or near shore with a kayak) in Whatcom county? I've mostly stuck to the Nooksack up here to avoid a drive out of the county. Been trying to venture out, but with limited time to explore compared to my younger childless years, I figured I'd cast an inquiry on here. I know Blaine pier is a nice spot to catch some decent sized flounder and I've seen folks catching salmon off that pier in the mornings. But what about Birch Bay, Point Whitehorn, end of Gulf Rd, Bellingham, or Larrabee? I don't even know if there's any lingcod up here that're within reach of a kayak for when they're in season. I don't know if it's worth it to gear up and SCUBA-scout the area (maybe next year during crabbing season).
