Since yesterday was so cold, decided to sleep in so temp could warm up a bit.

First cast at about 10:30.

Tied on a swimbait, lipless lure, dropshot, wacky and a t-rig.

I started off on a shallow flat with lots of green underwater vegetation with close access to deeper water. Something small stole a leg off my t-rig. Spotted a lonely 10" LMB just chilling out in the open but wasnt interested in my offerings.

Other than those 2, I didnt see anything in the shallow area. As I start working my way out deeper, I'm seeing more activity in the water. Perch from what I could tell. I find myself a nice 2.27# SMB in about 20' of water.

I'm actually seeing plenty of fish on my Livescope but they wont commit. As I'm pulling away, I see more markings on sonar so I start fishing in about 35' of water. So back down goes the trolling motor. I'm following the fishes around for a bit and they just wont bite my dropshot. Tossed out the t-rig and dragged it around a bit there too with nothing. Switch back to the dropshot and feel a few nips but no hookup. Then I see AMX coming by. We were chatting for a bit when all of a sudden I realize I have a fish on! LOL.

It was making weird headshakes, especially being in about 40' of water. I'm like what is this!?!?! It gets near the surface and I see a trout. Wait, is that a squawfish?! Nope, it's a very nice trout. I'm very confident it wasnt a cutt-throat bc I didnt see the red slash. It was either a very pretty rainbow or maybe a steelhead. Nice pink side, green back with dots. About 18-19". Slender but firm looking. Like a torpedo. I had it in my net. I brought it into the boat. As it's laying there on the back deck, so I can take a pic, it starts flopping violently and falls back into the water. I still had the hook on it though but a couple more quick runs, it came off. Bummer.

I found 2 more bass in about 30' of water. Both were caught back to back. 1st was about 1#. The other was much smaller. I saw lots of fish activity down there in that area but I couldnt get the other buggers to bite. I dont know why but this spot has been very consistent the past couple of weeks for me. Other than that spot, It has been tough!

I ended up with a good trout about the same size as your's, Rainbow in that spot I was going to. 35 or so depth. No more Bass, just the 3. You have a great looking new boat, it'll be fun to fish from.
