I usually don't fish for kokanee in the fall, but I decided to give it a go since I had decent luck a couple of weeks ago. Not so much this time around, caught the first 2 fish right away, but the fishing shut off as soon as it started raining. You wouldn't think that the fish would care when they're 30+ ft deep. It could also have been the wind, probably trolling too fast with the wind and too slow against it. My trolling motor only has 5 speeds.

I couldn't find any groups of larger fish on the fish finder, circled the big lake twice and ran out of juice fighting the wind. Unfortunately I was over by the no wake buoys for the bridge and had to row back to the launch against the wind. I was halfway there when a homeowner asked me if I needed a tow. Helped him pull his dock in, and he gave me a tow. Seems like a fair trade, got lucky. Not all of the homeowners on the lake are as nice as this guy.

Anyways, 4 kokes, 2 pikeminnows, and some upper body exercise. Fish were all around 12"

I think I might be done for the season, I'd hate to strand myself over in the small lake. Reports from previous years suggest that the fish congregate there before spawning. You can see in the photo that the fish are still silver, all 4 were hens, eggs were not quite mature yet.
