Did a father/daughter weekend fishing trip in the Methow Valley , we fished Davis Lake, Cougar Lake and the Met, it was her first time fly fishing. We caught fish in all three and she really enjoyed the difference between fly fishing and basic spin fishing and best of all she caught some fish, missed more then she caught but, she really had fun and I enjoyed watching her learn the difference. Cougar was probably the best fishing despite the fact the lake seemed like it was in bloom. Lots of cookie cutter 10 - 12" and one nice thick 19". Used sink tip with a brownish/olive carey on mine and brown woolley on daughters. I had not been to Cougar in probably 4 years (pre-fire) definitely need 4 wheel drive to get up there, looks like they dredged out the southern end to make it easier for the helicopters to dip water for fires. You can see all the natural springs bubbling up at that end not to mention the water temp was colder then the river.
