Got back on CDA Saturday for some pike fishing. I arrived at the launch and found 3 parking spaces left. With the side of the parking lot lined with non boater cars without trailers, it made using one of the empty spots impossible. By the time I decided I couldn't squeeze my trailer in, it was too late to get one of the others as someone else had taken both of them. I "Angrily" loaded the boat back on the trailer and headed north to another launch. That's how it goes I guess. I got blanked for the first couple of hours before catching my first fish, a 28" 6 1/2 pounder. A few minutes later and I released a 25"er, then nothing, so I decided since I was on the north end of the lake I would hit a few locations I hadn't fished in a while. After 3 hours of fishing the northern most section of the lake, and only seeing a couple of follows, and the wind dying down a little, I headed south. I hit a few places on my down to the Harrison area, with no luck. On the south end I only managed three more pike and a very small small mouth. I did manage to catch a couple of fish on a new style of lure to me. I had been eyeing this salmon bait on the shelf at the White Elephant for years, saying "That thing will catch pike". So, last week I picked one up and Saturday I gave it a try. Two pike within 15 minutes of fishing it. Not big ones but it's a sizeable bait so I'm quite sure the big girls will like it when they start to play here in a few weeks. Just goes to show you that we shouldn't label a particular bait as a species specific lure. If you think they will like it, throw it at them.
All the fish I caught were in 8-10 feet of water and bit on a bright colored spinner bait or the new top secret lure ;) lol Water temps were pretty much 72-74 all day long.

Glad to hear your day turned around.
People parking single vehicles in trailer parking is such a point of contention for me. Imagine the congestion within Seattle. It’s a huge problem here.

I feel your pain too, see that all the time at Seven Bays and NPS Rangers don't do anything about it. At least you were able to find another launch and salvaged the day. ;-)
