8/24/2019 8:43:02 AMI fished here for the first time yesterday. I have a fish hawk X2 and 28 ft seemed to be in the right temperature zone for Kokanee. However, the lake is small and gets shallow in a hurry. I seemed to get gunk on my lures even when staying over 30 FOW. What part of the lake do you have success with and what FOW do you troll in there? Thank you.

8/24/2019 9:03:57 AMYou are right it is shallowing much of the lake! All the kokanee action is out in the middle or on the edges of the deeper water. I usually don't even deploy my gear until I get in 35 FOW and then I run a circles staying that deep or deeper following the contours. If you look at BATHYMETRIC MAPS in the locations section on this website you will see the 30-40-50 lines. I follow those and usually troll N - S across those depths. There are a couple of corners in doing that that regularly produce fish. What I suspect is that the fish stay in the depth they want but on the edge of the shallows that are probably producing much of their food. Weeds grow up in the summer and that can sometimes limit where you can effectively troll. Hope that helps.

8/24/2019 9:59:37 AMSure. You can't start fishing there until the lake opens in April. As far as when I stop fishing there it usually has little to do with the fish. Sept. 1 is the opener of deer, then elk, then ducks. So from Sept. until the end of January I am hunting. February and March are remodel season and then back to fishing in April. :) Gotta love living in the NW! Subscribe to the Youtube channel if you want to see all the action!
