Fished July 22-25 and stayed at Mossyrock park. After getting campsite ready I headed out for an evening fishing trip and caught my limit of coho in about 2 hrs. Used a homemade chartreuse tube fly with a Smile blade made by my dad (picture added). I decided to put on my first ever made chartreuse tube fly (ugly thing no pic) and it caught one right away. That seemed to be the color they wanted. Had a few for dinner on the BBQ that night at the request of my daughter.

July 23rd my dad and friend drove up and joined me. Fished from 7am-11am and limited again. Used same flies and added a pink/purple one but chartreuse was again the color preferred but the other fly caught a few. Cloudy day and fish caught 40-60 feet down.

July 24th I slept in and started fishing at 8am and the lake was glass. I lost 4 or 5 and took longer to catch my limit. Pink was preferred on this day. High sky 60-80 feet deep was where I caught them consistently.

July 25th was our last day to stay in park so got up early to fish. Started at 6am and had my limit by 7:30. Chartreuse was what I started with and didn’t have to change. Sunny day but windy morning. No complaints here. Others launching thought I had boat issues since I was loading up so early. Only me so 5 fish can be quick.

First year I’ve used Yakima Bait’s Fast Limit dodgers. Used the larger size with flies and lures typically short at 12-14 inches behind it. Used both red and chartreuse dyed shrimp pieces but that didn’t seem to matter. Fish hit both on whatever lure/fly trolling at 1.5-1.8 mph.

Might make one more trip this year. With sockeye being down, this fishery has filled the void for using down riggers an lightweight Tica Kokanee rods. Lots of fun for everyone.
