Had a great day of fishing on Sammamish with buddy Pat on Tuesday. It certainly wasnt an easy day but we gotter' done.

Launched about 9am and noticed the barometer had dropped significantly to about 29.xx. At that point we knew it was going to be tough because Sammamish cutties seem to be very barometric pressure sensitive. Couple hours later fish box was still empty and was beginning to look like a stinker, but we did notice the barometer was rising so we stuck it out. About 1 oclock pressure rose to 30.xx and it was game on. Constant action for the next four hours.

Most of the fish were in the 12-16 inch range but we did catch two gorgeous fish that were right on 20 inches. Kept four of the smaller ones and one of the 20 inchers. Released the rest for another day. The reel hi-lite of the day was a beautiful Coho about 4lbs. Really nice fish.

We hit all the usual spots, eastside, weather buoy, bass cove etc etc. and I marked a couple "hotspots" from when the bite finally turned on. These fish move around so a hotspot on Tuesday might not be so hot on Wednesday. They are where they are.

Fish were all 35-50 down on the cable, 75-100 back, trolling speed 1.5-2.00mph, 80-90 fow. The best setup turned out to be a brass willow blade spinner with worm chunk and a drop of Mikes Trout scent, about 12-14 inches behind a dodger. This setup was money (at least on Tuesday)

I hear a lot about the imminent demise of Sammamish but if electronics mean anything this lake is loaded with fish. Also bass fishing is darn good and perch fishing is off the chart!!!

Tight lines and FISH ON!!!

Thanks for your great report. Sammamish was consistently good for me last summer. There have been so many other boaters and watercraft out there that I have not dared to fish.

Weekdays are great as far as boat traffic. Weekend probably not so much.

Great looking cutties. Just wondering, did the 20" cut a nice reddish pink color? I noticed the last two I caught 19" + 18" seemed to be a much more lighter in color. One was almost white (it was not a rainbow). All the fish I have caught at Sammamish in the past 3 years have always cut reddish pink. They were caught in June/July this year so should not have been in spawn. Both were nice and fat. Just curious.

Yeah the 20 incher was nice and red. Pic really doesnt do justice to the fillets.
