Got back to Cda Lake on Saturday after being of that water for about 3 weeks. I was expecting the weed growth to be much further along than it was. Targeting pike is much easier when you can see the weed edges so numbers weren't that high, but the fish seemed to be fighting extra hard for their size. It took an hour to hook into my first fish but when I found her she was a beauty, at 35" and 12 pounds. The fish crushed a bright colored spinner bait in 5-6 feet of water. The depths I located fish in varied. When I targeted 5-6 feet of water it didn't pan out. The rest of the day I caught fish anywhere from 8-15 feet. All fish came on spinner baits this trip except for one nice bass. I finished the day with 7 pike and 4 bass, and the 35"er was the largest. The others were 21-27" but great fighters. Water temps were from 58-66 throughout the day.
