Went with my son, daughter in-law and grandson to fish for shad below ice harbor dam today in his new thunder jet. We caught a few, kind of slow, but as none of us had done this before we were pleased to catch some fish. Watched some videos and read some articles so we just did what the videos showed. We had 2 setups, and both worked equally well. The trolling rods set up with 6oz lead on 30" droppers tied to a 3 way and used dick nite spoons on 6' 8lb leader. The other rod was set with a deep diving plug and a triple teaser spoon on 5' 8lb leader. We started archored on the south side of the island below the dam (Goose?) at the current seams, and marked small schools but no takers. Moved to near the bouy line (current seam today) on the North side of the island in 20' of water. We fished near the bottom. Colors were silver w/ red, white with red, and brass with red. Fished 8:30 until noon. All fish were males.
