Enjoyed getting out for the morning with Captain Dale, skipper of the Ruby D, and fishing for the native coho. The goal of the trip was to test our new OG spinner/hoochie rig and compare it to the OG2. The new rig did alright; but, the standout was the 2.8" OG2 in fluoro-green/chartreuse.

We were fishing in deep water 600 to 700 feet with between 30 to 50 feet of cable out on the downrigger. Early on, we were fishing shallow (30 feet) and then gradually moved deeper. Both the hoochie and OG2s were fished behind a flasher; and, both flashers were a combination of green/UV reflective paint. We fished the hoochie behind an 8" flasher and the OG2 behind an 11". Trolling speed was fast (around 3mph).

We left the dock around 6am and had our limits by 7am.

Here's a link to a short video of the trip:

I actually fished these this past weekend in MA10, same color even! We had one on during a dead period with it to break us out of the slump, so must've worked!

How far back was the OG-2 from the flasher? I will give it a try this week. Thanks.

Bill: We were running with the leader out of the box. That said, I've had customers indicate that they'll trim the leader to a length in the 38" to 42" range. (Let us know how you do.) Thanks!

I will let you know. I did well with the OG last summer, when nothing else seemed to work. I don't have the fluorescent green version though. Thanks for answering my question.

The fluoro-green/chartreuse color is new. We'd introduced the 5" version late last summer, and twice, it did very well for us out of Sekiu for the returning ocean coho. (Surprisingly well.) So, we decided to paint up a batch of 3.9" and 2.8" and offer them this summer. The 2.8" proved very effective last Thursday (and then in subsequent outings by Captain Dale over the weekend).
