The weather was nearly perfect so Son Don and I hooked up my small boat and headed off to Mason County to explore some small lakes. The first lake was Howell Lake but we couldn't find any way to launch the boat - strange - I had fished it 5 times years ago and there was a pretty good boat launching area - Maybe they cut off the road to the access? The next two lakes I would like to keep secret for now. They are quite small and could not stand any pressure from anglers that did not practice C & R. We did catch a few nice bass and of course my Son caught the biggest bass so I lost the standard bet of $1.00. Don's best fish was 19 1/2 inches and 4 pounds even - mine only 16 inches and 2 pounds, 10 ounces. All fish released. It was a fun day of exploring and we both added a new lake to our "successfully fished bass lakes."
