Lake Samish was so hot, that I actually wished it was a bit slower...… I dropped my lines in the water just after 6:30am, which was a later start than I intended, and I had my 10th fish on ice by 7:25. Less than 1 hour to limit my 10 kokanee. Without a doubt my fastest 10 fish kokanee limit, and probably the most action I've had kokanee fishing in a compact time frame. Fishing was stupid hot!
I started my morning on 1 line with an Elgin Fishing God's Tooth Spoon in 50/50 blue, 12 inches of leader behind a Mack's Double D dodger, and 4ft down. The other line I started at 15 feet down, same set up as the other line except for a 50/50 brass/nickel God's Tooth Spoon. Within 30 seconds of getting the shallow line in the water, fish on! Landed it, reset my line, and not 30 seconds later that rod goes off again. Landed that. Reset again, was about to bring my line at 15 feet up, when that shallow line dances, again. That line was in the water less than 2 minutes, and it landed 3 fish. It stayed that was until the end. Landed 3 doubles, and had another double where 1 of the fish got off. Crazy good fishing, like I said, too good almost. I never even got to take a sip of my coffee!
Exact set up was the God's Tooth Spoons, 12 inch leaders behind Mack's Double D dodgers, 1 with diamond plate, the other moon jelly. 4 feet down (no idea why I picked 4 feet) and 1-1.2mph. Corn dyed orange soaked in Garlic Bloody Tuna oil.
Video shows the action from today.
