Arrived at the lake about 7:30 AM and started fishing in a CHILLY 39 degree temperature. Started trolling with a sinking flyline using a black carey special and within minutes of launching, had an aggressive strike but lost the fish as it seemed the fish just let go of the fly. This type of activity occurred about 4 more times within the next hour and I decided to switch to a black woolly bugger. Once again the same strike and lost fish. After another 30 minutes took another strike and this time was able to bring a nice 18 incher boatside. Fished for the next 4 hours catching 7 fish total ranging from 12 to 20 inches. About noon, the wind changed from a gentle northern wind to a fairly strong southerly wind and the action really picked up. Began to allow the wind to drift me down the lake and immediately took a 21 incher. Shortly after this, hooked into a really nice fish (or the Orient Express), and as the fish kept his distance and the wind increased the distance between me and the fish, a couple violent head shakes and the brute was gone. Continued fishing the same area eventually quitting about 3:30 PM. The total for the day was caught 10 fish and lost about the same number.
