Trolled spoons around the south half of Lake Lenore today with my friend Russell Johnston. We caught and released 23 trout, averaging about 3 pounds each. We also lost another dozen or so of these feisty fish. My friend, as usual, had the hot hand and caught most of the trout. The largest fish was about five pds, the smallest, a 1/2 pd. We found we had to adapt in terms of changing locations and lure colors throughout the day to have success.
The fish are brightly colored and definitely fight much better than they do during the spring. Better still, the weather was mild and there were no more than half a dozen other anglers sharing the lake with us on this phenomenal day!
Needless to say, days like this on any body of water are few and far between.
