Wow! What a great time on the water! I had a close friend offer to take me out on his boat to learn the ropes of some techniques and boy did it pay off.
We launched from hunters around 8:00, and after doing a couple joy-ride laps in the boat we headed to a nice spot to start trolling. We had two poles with lead core line and green muddler minnows, one on a down rigger, and a diving rapala on the 4th.
Within seconds we had a hit but missed it from not being entirely ready. No worries, we had action constantly, we started pulling fish in the boat one after another. The green flies had the most action, the rapala had a some also. At one point we even had a fish on 3 poles at the same time!
The real breadwinner came on the Downrigger with one of the flies, a 22 inches 4.5lb beautiful triploid!
By 11 we both had our limit in the live well and decided we'd head to a Different spot to try our luck trolling bottom bouncers for walleye. once again the first bite came within minutes of letting out our line. We marked a waypoint on his gps and started making loops. Sure enough every walleye came within feet of the spot.
By around 3 we decided to head home with a total of 10 trout and 7 walleye in the cooler.
Overall a great day for mixed species, and now I have a overabundance of fish destined for the smoker! Overall we ended up with 17lbs of fish after being filleted!
