There's been a shortage of reports from Roosevelt lately especially for trout so we didn't know what to expect. Launched at FT Spokane at 9 am. A little ice on the ramp. Temperature 22 degrees but sunny and nearly calm. Headed straight to the confluence and trolled the east side north of the confluence. Found a steady bite. The regulars are now 15 to 16 inches and fat. We fished two leaded lines and one downrigger. Perch pattern fly on the downrigger set at about 15'. That was the hot lure today. Also caught fish on the leaded lines using chartreuse and an orange/ brown fly on the other. Orange /brown was better than the charteuse. Had nearly limited before 1:30 and didn't want to quit so headed upstream to split rock to explore some favorite spots. Found fish north of split rock along the east shore. Ended the day with a limit for two (10 fish) of 15 to 18 inch trout, mostly 15 1/2 " to 16." Lost count of the number of unclipped we put back but it was several. Had double hook ups a few times and three poles bouncing once. Had to let the third stay in the holder till we got the others to the boat. Most hookups made it to the net today but several came off in the net. Lip hookups . They were not swallowing it. Fished mostly 30 feet and less water at about 2 mph. Caught fish up stream and downstream about equally. Going back tomorrow with my grandson and a friend. Wont be as nice a fishing day but hopefully will be another great catching day.
